Have you ever struggled to achieve a goal?
Today I remembered how important struggle is when we’re working toward bettering ourselves.
I have been working the last 6 months to learn digital marketing. I have learned a TON! and yet…I am an exercise professional. I help people feel better. I help them get back to doing what they love to do. When Covid-19 hit I learned that I can also help people virtually. And I love it!
Learning to reach out to people online has taught me a lot too. I have to dig deep and share content that sometimes I would rather not. I have to get better at explaining what I know helps people feel better. I have to step outstide my comfort zone. I have to speak up. I have to be LOUD so that people hear me. Man…sometimes I really miss my team. Being loud with my people was so much easier.
Stepping out of our comfort zone and learning how to navigate the stumbling blocks helps our brain to learn new pathways. When we are going thru it, it sucks. It seems to feel so much better when we achieve a win right off the bat. But what do we really learn from that?
I’ve been frustrated all day because I couldn’t find an answer to one question. I searched and searched. Colleagues reached out to help, after I tried to find the answers. I very nearly gave up on a goal that I have had for almost 10 years.
It’s much easier to give up on things we want to achieve. Whether it be learning a new skill or challenging ourselves to learn a completely foreign skill, embracing the challenge and leaning into them will help.
Takeaway? Perfecting a new cheer skill is really tough. The process will be frustrating. If you can step back and know that embracing the learning process will actually help you be and do better in the future, you’ll be on your way to greatness.
